Skyline Drive

You probably figured out I didn't have internet service on the Skyline Drive. I'm so far behind you'll have to make do with the quick version.

Before we entered Shenandoah National Park, we visited Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
And ate lunch in the Ordinary at Michie Tavern, established in 1784.
Then on to the Skyline Drive for more views...
View from behind our campsites at Loft Mountain
Same view at sunset
Nan watches out for deer now.
Good thing too!

More views...
Nan walks out to a viewpoint.
Roe and me hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail.
Lewis Falls...the highest waterfall in Shenandoah National Park. The sign said "a relatively easy hike." Not!
A lot of deer wander through Big Meadows Campground. Bear wants to get 'em.
Lot of critters to watch...
Nesting Robin

Baby Bluebird, I think.
Don't know what this is, but it's eating a cherry.

What are you looking at?
A little example of God's perfection.
 Marys Rock Tunnel
Mountain Laurel was planted by the CCC for erosion control.
 Morning mists in the valley.
On higher plain...traveling above the clouds.
Crossing the Potomac in Front Royal....off to the PA Get-together!

  1. I am always tickled to see a post from you pop up in the reader. I know I will have a few moments to slip into the beautiful hardwood forests and feel as though I am right there. Beautiful. Seems as though there isn't a lot of traffic right now, or maybe you are just very good at not catching it in your photos. The mountains are soo soooo lovely.

  3. Great pics Liz. Was wondering who was taking pics while your drove - is it Roe or Bandit. Figured must be Roe since he had the front seat. The cherry eating bird is a Gray Catbird. Must be a lifer for you. He sure is pretty.
